William Hauptman, 6th Degree Black Belt, Master Instructor
William started training in 1978 in Spencer, Iowa with Robert Jager. In his 30+ years of instructing he has helped over 1,000 students achieve their black belts and has certified over 50 instructors -- most of whom are still teaching today. He has opened over 12 clubs and 6 full-time schools. He and his instructors currently train over 1,900 students in Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota.
He founded Paragon Martial Arts in 1994.
William was the ATA's 25th instructor to earn the rank of Master Instructor. He trained and taught at ATA National Headquarters with Grand Master H.U. Lee. He was the first Head Coach of the ATA's prestigious World Demo Team and is one of the few that has earned the ATA's Instructor of the Year award. Master Hauptman is a Gold Collar instructor, the ATA's highest level of instructorship.[view images]

In 2000, Master Hauptman founded the Pilsung Youth Initiative, a 501 (c) (3) charity that gives tuition assistance to underpriviledged and at-risk childen the chance to train in martial arts. There are currently 6 schools actively giving assisance to Pilsung kids int he Denver area. The Initiative raises money through fundraisers, corporate and foundation grants and corporate donations.

William also enjoys snowboarding, the arts (theather, ballet and the symphany) and scuba diving. Certified in Bora Bora, William has been on dives around the world. His particular passion is shark diving. On a recent cage dive in the South Pacific, he caught this picture of a 16" great white shark.
