Paragon Fort Collins
Joel Bass, 6th Degree Black Belt, Master Instructor Candidate
In 1986, Joel began his Taekwondo journey at the age of twelve in Florida and soon after earned his black belt. By his 18th birthday, Joel had become a certified instructor and began a Taekwondo club at the University of South Alabama. After college and the Army, Joel was recruited and spent three years working for two of the ATA’s top and largest schools in California. Joel made the decision to move to Denver in early 2001 where he managed the Conifer and Evergreen schools until he and his wife, Amy, moved to Fort Collins to be closer to family.
Instructor Notes:
Joel trained and progressed through the ranks with his mother, Gale, who went on to earn her first degree black belt. Joel, first hand, understands how martial arts training can bring a family closer together and works hard to keep everyone in the family actively involved. In order for a student to earn their black belt and achieve their martial arts goals, a student must have the support of their instructor and family to be successful. The family that kicks together, stays together.
Joel has had the rare and unique experience of either working for or training with seven different ATA Master Instructors. This experience gives him a full and comprehensive understanding and skills to be a top instructor of Songahm Taekwondo.
When Joel is not on the studio floor or teaching seminars, he likes to spend his free time with his friends and family. Joel also is also an avid cyclist, fly fishermen and golfer. In the summer of 2009, he completed his first Triple Bypass, a bike ride from Evergreen to Vail that covers a 120 miles and 10,000 vertical feet. Joel loves to play golf when ever he can and loves spending time on Colorado rivers. He often plays with Grand Master Soon Ho Lee and Chief Master M.K. Lee when they visit Colorado.

Joel has:
