Paragon Martial Arts

With a New Focus on Martial Arts,
Paragon is More Than Tae Kwon Do

by Susan Halama at Mountain Connection

Paragon Martial Arts is re-opening in the Evergreen Safeway Plaza under new ownership. New owners, Jody and Jamie Horn along with the Conifer Paragon owner, Lura Roberts, have changed the focus of the studios to more practical methods of self-defense and fitness alongside martial arts instruction.

As new owners with a new direction, Paragon invites the public to an Open House at the Evergreen studio on November 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. During the Open House, a free Child Safety Seminar, including internet safety, will be conducted along with an introduction to the various programs and classes available at both locations. The programs’ appeal is broad, spanning a range of interests and age groups: From basic Tae Kwon Do, to youth leadership programs to competitive martial arts and sparring. Paragon studios boast competent instruction by Jody Horn, a 2 time World Champion, and National Champion, Lura Roberts.

The change in Paragon’s business direction allows the Evergreen and Conifer locations to introduce several exciting new programs. Kids ‘N Power, a program recently highlighted on national television, has been implemented by numerous law enforcement jurisdictions to train children and teens abduction avoidance through simple awareness and self defense. During the Open House at the Evergreen Paragon November 3 and the seminar in Bailey offered by the Conifer Paragon November 1, parents can learn elemental precautions to keep kids safe from predators.

Another new program is Krav Maga. Krav Maga is a military self defense and hand-to -hand combat system developed in Israel and widely used by the FBI and the U.S. military.  The program incorporates traditional Tae Kwon Do in a self-defense environment. The class is open to students at least 13 years of age.

Paragon’s Family Program encourages participation in Tae Kwon Do as family exercise –allowing children and parents first hand experience on mastering the forms and moves necessary for sport success. The Family Program, not usually found in traditional studios, gives families common goals in self-protection and self-reliance and concentrates on helping each other and staying together.

The seminar on November 1 in Bailey and November 3 at the Evergreen studio is free and everyone is invited but space is limited.  To empower your kids today to protect themselves or to learn more about the numerous programs offered, call the Evergreen Paragon studio at 303-674-5900 or the Conifer Paragon studio at 303-838-8533.
